Joe Kroon

"you mattered"

CopShock and this web site are dedicated to the memory of Sergeant Joseph Kroon of the New York City Police Department. His story is told in the book. The following is excerpted from his eulogy.

"Joey, if in the last couple of days of your life on earth -- for whatever reason you could not hear what [we] were so desperately trying to make you believe and understand -- look around you now -- see for yourself that you mattered, that you were necessary in our lives -- that you were appreciated and respected. That you, a simple man, are very special to us. Above all that the love we each had for you, which now flows from us in the form of tears, was real and strong.

"I'll say it again Joey, we loved you! We love you!"
